Boys Yearly Check-Ups
I took the boys to the doctor yesterday for their yearly check-ups and got great reviews! They are both perfectly healthy and growing like weeds. : )
Dawson's 1 Year Stats:
Height: 32.5 inches (99%)
Weight: 24.1 pounds (85%)
Head Circ.: 47.6 cm (85%)
Camp's 4 Year Stats:
Height: 41 inches (70%)
Weight: 40 pounds (75%)
Bless the poor nurses hearts because all THREE of them got shots. I called in reinforcements and Benjamin went w/ me to help w/ the chaos.
Emma Claire cried from the moment we told her she was getting a simple flu shot, but the boys didn't know what was coming until it was time. Camp got 3 shots w/ the flu mist and Dawson got 4 shots (2 in each thigh). Afterwards we recovered w/ milkshakes and unwinding at home.
Thank you, Dr. Dirk, for another great appointment!

Camp's 18 Month Check-Up
Today I took Camp to the doctor and it couldn't have been a better 18 month check-up. Dr. Dirk said that everything looked great and he could tell that he wasn't missing many meals. : )
One of my main concerns with this check-up was to talk about his talking. Camp will say about 10 words but other than that I don't really recognize any other words. I told Dr. Dirk that I'm trying really hard not to compare him to where Emma Claire was at his age, but he encouraged me and said this was completely normal. He said with him being the second child and having an older sister has a lot to do with it. Dr. Dirk said within the next three months he should really begin to pick up a lot of vocabulary and if not to call him at 21 months and we will re-evaluate him. He was so encouraging and said that we have absolutely nothing to worry about with him because he is just perfect. : )
Another thing we talked about was temper tantrums. To be honest, we really don't have a problem with this. Sometimes maybe once a week he will get upset about something, fall on the ground, and as soon as he realizes we aren't paying any attention to him he will get up and move on to something else. This doesn't mean that he isn't strong-willed! Just that we aren't struggling with tantrums at the moment. : )
We also talked about eating. Camp is one of the pickiest little eaters I have seen. One reason I love Dr. Dirk is because he is so down to earth and really understands the struggles we are dealing with. He said at dinner I only cook ONE dinner. Whatever I cook, I serve to the kids and either they eat it or they don't. He assured me that they were not going to starve and that they need to learn to eat what they are given. Otherwise, I will end up cooking 4 dinners every nite. This was really reassuring for me because Benjamin had been telling me this for a couple of days now but I just couldn't stand the thought of Camp not eating. We'll see what the next few weeks will hold!
Dr. Dirk did put Camp on a Z-pak for a cough he has been struggling with for about two weeks. He just can't seem to kick it and keeps waking up at night choking. He said to go ahead and give him a couple of breathing treatments to help him overcome these allergies. This season change is just so hard on both of my babies. Thankful for meds to help them through it!
Camp has lost a little bit of weight since his last visit! I guess all of this running around outside on these pretty days has burnt some calories! : )
Stats at 18 Months:
Height: 34 inches @ 80% Percentile
Weight: 28 lbs 9 oz @ 78% Percentile
Head Circ: 38 cm @ 50% Percentile

Camp At 15 Months
My little boy is growing by leaps and bounds! Here are his stats from his 15 month check-up:
Things I want to remember about Camp at 15 months:

These show his little personality perfectly! : )
- Height: 32 inches @ 75 percentile for his age.
- Weight: 27 pounds @ 75 percentile for his age.
- Head Circumference: 47.5 cm @ 55 percentile for his age.
Things I want to remember about Camp at 15 months:
- He loves to play. He always wants us to lay in the floor and wrestle or chase him around the house. His most favorite thing is for Daddy to toss him on the couch.
- Camp LOVES to Dance. When ever there is any kind of music he shakes his little booty and twists as low as he can go. He will then swing one arm around and finish with both arms up in the hair saying "yea!".
- He points and grunts at anything he wants. He will also point his finger and mimic counting to 3 and then take off running.
- Because Camp is not talking much yet he has to be creative in letting you know what he wants. When ever he wants a snack or a ball rolls under something he can't reach or he is ready for nap he will come find us, grab our hand, and pull us to whatever he wants.
- Temper, Temper, Temper. I thought this child was going to be my laid back child. Boy was I wrong. And patience is not one of his strongest virtues either. When you tell him 'no' about something his legs will go limp, he will bow his back, and to the floor he will fall in a fit. Not cute when you are trying to walk across a parking lot with a 27 pound weight. ; )
- Camp adores his sister and they play together really well. Just last night after he got a spat on his hand for disobeying he walked over to his sissy and held up his hand for her to kiss it and make it feel better. They love to dance together, watch movies together, and play games together. I can't complain one bit because the two of them together has just been pure joy.
- Camp has just gotten into playing with balls. He will mimic counting to three, throw it, and then take off running after it. Last night he threw a royal fit when I had to take it from him to go to bed. Hopefully it's a sign that we will have a great ballplayer on our hands!
- He is a man of few words. Dr. Dirk said that he is not concerned at all right now because Camp has a big sister that gladly does all the talking for him so why should he need to talk. ; ) He said we should enjoy the quiet while we can. : ) The words he will say are: Momma, Da-Da, Bye-Bye, a form of Sissy, Bite, and Ball.
- My boy LOVES to sleep and I for one love it too! He goes to bed at 7:30 and will usually sleep until anywhere from 7:30 to on random occasions 9:30. He did sleep til 10:30 am on one morning which was wonderful for this mommy! On non-school days he will also take a nap around 9:30 am and then another one at around 2:00 pm.
- Camp enjoys all the fun he gets to participate in at school. Playing in the classroom with friends, music, discovery, the gym, the playground, and arts and crafts. His teachers are amazing and I have not one worry about leaving him with them on school days.
- He is a huge fan of Blue's Clues. For Christmas he got a TV for his room so during the day I will put a Blue's Clues video in his room and he will play in there with his toys for hours. Emma Claire enjoys it too, so most of the time I catch them in there together playing with toys and watching Blue's Clues.
- He is one of the pickiest eaters I have ever seen. His menu mostly consist of waffles, grapes, mac-n-cheese, raisins, cheese, chocolate gravy, fruit, yogurt, cereal bars, cooked green beans, blueberries, and dry cereal. Of course he loves sweets but we can't have those for 3 meals a day. ; 0
- Bath time is one his most favorite times of the day. When he hears the water running he will take off running down the hall and try to dive in head first.
- Camp is a climber. If there is something to climb on top of he WILL be on top of it.
- Last but not least, Camp is definitely a Mommy's Boy. He LOVES his mommy! I have to say there is something different about having a little boy. I just melt when I get hugs from my little man.

These show his little personality perfectly! : )
