Emma Claire really likes to be to herself. Since she was a baby she does not like for people (other than mommy and daddy) to hug on her, be in her face or even talk to her. We spend a lot of time talking about how we should love our neighbor as our self and how it makes them feel when she won’t have anything to do with them. Actually, her response really seems kind of hateful. On more than one occasion we have been out in public and Emma Claire has hid behind me and said “Mommy, they’re looking at me!” I have used it to ask her why she thought they were looking at her; was she being funny….was she disobeying…..did they think she looked beautiful in what she was wearing. I know we will work through this, but I would love any advice anyone has on the subject.
However, Emma Claire has thought it really funny to play the “He’s looking at me!” game with PePaw. When she catches him looking at her she will quickly tattle on him to RaRa expecting him to get into trouble. I think they both get a kick out of it and think it rather funny. I count it fortunate that they get to make so many wonderful memories with their grandparents. I know I treasure mine.

Couple of Cute Stories About Emma Claire
Emma Claire is growing so fast and her imagination is booming. Here are a couple of cute stories about my sweet girl:
The other day we were driving down the road and Camp started fussing. Emma Claire was going to be so sweet and try to calm him by singing him a song. She immediately started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star..." and he continued to cry. So, her response was, "Oh, Mommy, he no like that one. How bout this one, Camp? Baaa, Baaa Black Sheep Have You Any Wool...." and he continued to cry. She did this over and over singing all the songs she knew until he stopped crying. It was so sweet to listen to her try to soothe her baby brother.
Emma Claire's imagination has just grown over the last couple of weeks. The other day she climbed up into the chair to watch a movie and turned around to help pull her friend 'Simba' up onto the chair to watch the movie with her. She also has an imaginary baby that she will carry around trying to soothe her while she is crying, feed her, and put her down for a nap. She will pretend that there are different types of animals in our house and ask me to look at them like they are sooo amazing. And of course I play along while we talk about how neat they are. She also walks around the house on her phone talking to who knows who telling them all types of stories. And the stories just go on and on. It is so neat to watch her and just listen to what all she can come up with. I love watching her grow!!!

The NC State Fair 2009
Left: Chloe and Emma Claire playing in the floor at McAllister's before we head to the fair.
The fairground is beautiful. Right: This is one of the many sections with rides.
Left: One of the many entrances. You have to pay attention because if you aren't careful you will not be able to remember which of the entrances you came in.
Right: Checking out which ride they will tackle next.
Left: Emma Claire wanted to ride this huge farris wheel so her daddy said he would take her on it. Right: Yea!! It's finally my turn!!
Right: They made it to the very top!
Left: Camp was so good all day! He rode in his stroller and check everything out. Right: Believe it or not this was one of the least crowded places.
Left: Getting ready to ride on the roller coaster. Right: She LOVED it! Look at that mouth wide open.
Right: We took a break to have an 'elephant ear' topped with chocolate, apples, and cream. Mmmmm....
Left: Time to visit the animals. Right: They had every type of fried food you could think of. Every where you turn there was a stand selling something fried. The new thing this year was Chocolate Covered Fried Bacon.
Left: Benjamin couldn't wait till Emma Claire was big enough to the Bungie Jump. Right: We finished up the day by visitng Mario Land.
Check out how HUGE this thing is!! They do it every year and I think they were expecting around 800,000 people this year.
