Emma Claire was so excited to begin her new year in her big 2 Year Old Class at Little Lambs today. We picked out a great new outfit to wear and she just had to wear her hair in 'piggy-tails'. We talked the whole way there about obeying our teachers and sharing our toys with our friends. She said, "It makes Jesus happy we share our toys." Of course, I'm still not so sure of how that went. ; )
Once we got there she was so proud to pose in the parking lot with her new backpack and lunchbox RaRa had gotten her to start school with. She had also loaded her arms with 3 purses, 2 babies, and all her jewelry. I had to convince her that everything had to stay in the car until we got out of school but she could pick one purse to take to school 'just like mommy', as she would say.
Before I took her to her class we stopped by the potty so she would be all ready to begin her day. Again, we went over the rules of obeying our teachers, loving our friends, and using our manners. Once we were done we walked hand in hand to her new class. As we got to the door I figured she would be a little bit hesitant and clingy to Mommy for the first day. BOY, was I wrong!!! She took off straight into her classroom to see what she could get into. I called her back and told her that mommy would like a little kiss before she started her day, so she quickly kissed me and off she went. I have to say I was a little sad. I'm not sure how long the excitement will last but today was definitely her day.
A couple times during the day I was able to walk down the hall and peek into her classroom to see what she was doing. I saw her sitting on her 'Ladybug' listening during circle time, sitting at the lunch table waiting to say the prayer for lunch, playing cars with Alyssa, and giving her friend Daniel a hug. It is so great to be able to go see her anytime I want.
When all the children in my class had gone for the day I headed down the hall to pick up Emma Claire. As I rounded the corner of her door she immediately took off running and her mouth was going non-stop. She was showing me her two stamps that she had gotten in music, the stamp she got for helping clean up her classroom, and how the little boy next to her at lunch kept trying to eat her food. She was so excited. Her teachers, Ms. JuJu (as Emma Claire calls her) and Ms. Brooke, said she had a great day. I was so proud of her and so proud of how much fun she had. I can't wait to hear all of the stories they have to tell about her days!
A Teacher Story: Her teachers said that at lunch Emma Claire opened her lunch box and began drinking her yogurt before they had said their prayer to begin. They kindly told her that before she could begin her lunch they were going to say their prayers together. Well, then it was on. Emma Claire, the lunch police, got on to every person she saw trying to eat their lunch before prayer time. She would say, "No, can't eat our lunch till we say our prayer. No, can't open your lunch. No, gotta wait till we say our prayer."
