Summer 2007 Idaho Internship

In June of 2007 we packed up our little family and moved up to Coeur d'alene, Idaho for a summer internship. We were there to work alongside North Star Church and assist them with anything they needed us to do. We also spent time surveying a nearby city to see if there was a need of another church plant there.

Emma Claire's first bite of 'real' food. She was not a fan of the plain oatmeal so we opted for the banana flavored. : )

Bottom Left: They had these neat little two wheelers that we could ride around the neighborhood with. Emma Claire LOVED it! Bottom Right: This is a picture of the outside of the church building.

Bottom Left: This is where we stayed while we were there. It was a little house with a basement right next to the church. Perfect location for us.

Bottom Left: The couple on the right is Jana & Bennett Sanderson. They were at North Star leading the youth. Bottom Right: Everything about Coeur d'Alene is beautiful. I love everything about the sites there.

Every summer Coeur d'Alene host an Ironman competition. It was so much fun to be apart of and we had a blast volunteering. Below is Emma Claire next to a 5 lb chunk of fat. Gross!

The morning prior to the IronMan North Star was able to host a free pancake breakfast for all of the competitors. It was such a great outreach and sooooo many people showed up.

The whole competition is just inspiring. It would bring tears to your eyes as you saw mother's and daddy's crossing the finish line with their kids in their hands. It is such a BIG accomplishment.

Bottom Right: Father's Day 2007!

Bottom Left: Happy 4th of July! Bottom Right: This was a team that came from Louisiana to help with a Upward Basketball camp. They did such a wonderful job and we had a great time hanging out with them while they were here.

Bottom Left: Benjamin's parents decided to make a trip up to see us and the beautiful Coeur d'Alene. We had a great time exploring the area with them. Bottom Right: We finally saw an elk out in one of the fields.

Whoever sees an IronMan gets inspired. EVERYBODY! : ) They thought they would try it out in the freezing water.

Bro. Scott, the pastor, and his sweet family.

Bottom Left: Tom Magee, the worship pastor, and his family. Bottom Right: Our team that went out surveying with us.

Bottom Right: Emma Claire's first time to be big enough to sit in a restaurant high chair!

We decided to take a little trip to meet our good friends the Wood's. They went to SEBTS us with us before moving to Montana.

Ella and Emma Claire

Bottom Right: This sweet family were the first people we left Emma Claire with besides family. They took wonderful care of her and Benjamin and I had a great date night! Jeremy and Jennifer Scott.

Bottom Right: We spent lots of time just hanging out and 'playing' at the Jensen's house. ; ) I'm not going to tell you who but before the summer is over someone fell right through that fence. : )

Bottom Left: The Jensen's. The loved on us so well while we were in Idaho. They invited us in just like family. Bottom Right: This wonderful couple shared a vehicle all summer long so that Benjamin and I could have could have their truck for the summer. It meant so much to us!

Bottom Left: This was the living room in the house we stayed in. Bottom Right: This was were Benjamin spent most of his time. It's in the basement of the church.

Toward the end of the summer we finally decided we would brave the cold water and go swimming. The water is so clear and has smooth pebbles all over the bottom.

Emma Claire did. not. like the cold water!

Bottom Right: Sydney, Heidi, & Emma Claire. Bottom Right: Our bedroom.

We had such a wonderful time in Idaho this summer! We can't wait to go back and visit all the wonderful people we met.
