Sping Cook-Out at the Davis'

After a fun morning field trip we headed home and rested up because our friends, Dan & Rachael Davis, were having a spring cook-out at their house for everyone to enjoy the wonderful weather we have been having.

Top Left: Camp loved watching Daddy and Mr. Shane play corn hole. He would just squeal with delight every time they tossed the bag. Top Right: Emma Claire and her buddy, Elijah.
Just look at all that yummy food!

Top Right: Camp found some guys his size to play with! Bottom Pics: Emma Claire would recruit anyone that was willing to push her in the car. : )

Top Left: Alicia and Beverly joined in on the corn hole action! Top Right: I just love when I see this big grin!
Bottom Left: Me and MY girl! Bottom Right: Elijah, Emma Claire, & Nathan

Strawberry Patch

Yesterday was Emma Claire's class field trip to the strawberry patch. It was such a treat for Emma Claire when Daddy took off of work to take her by herself. Just a Daddy Daughter Date! : )

They had a blast and there were LOTS of strawberries. Top Right: Alyssa, Emma Claire, & Liza

After they finished picking strawberries they headed to a park nearby our house for a picnic and play time. It was perfect for Camp and I to load up and enjoy the beautiful day with them.

Top Right: Camp thought he could climb everything Sissy did! : )
Bottom Right: Look at all these yummy strawberries Benjamin and Emma Claire picked for just $10! Let's just say that strawberry time is one of our most favorite times of the year here in North Carolina.

A Little Emma Claire

*Tonight when I was putting Emma Claire to bed she told me that she might have a hard time falling asleep. She said that when you have a full mind you have a hard time falling asleep sometimes. Very true, my girl.

*The other night at dinner Emma Claire was eating cantaloupe and found that it had small white seeds in it and so she casually laid 3 of them to the side. Later when we were outside playing I saw her dig a hole, put the seeds in it, and then grab a bucket of water to water them. She told us that we didn't have to worry because tomorrow we would have 3 more cantaloupe to eat. : )

*Emma Claire knows Bible Stories like nobody's business and loves us to read her the Bible. The other night she decided that she was going to read all the way through the Bible to us. As she flipped the pages and told us things that was going on I just had to grin at her knowledge.
  • "Mommy, you see this picture? Their faces are sad because they wanted to be king but Jesus is the only true King."
  • "The last supper was Jesus last supper. He ate the bread and wine. The bread was to remember when He was dead and the wine was to remember His body when there was blood on it."
  • "Judas was very not nice. Judas needed to do a bad thing and Jesus said 'go do what you need to do', but Judas just ran back for Jesus and the soldiers marched and found Him. And hurt Him and took Him to the king and the king said 'go put Him on the cross!' and that was a very sad day."
  • "Jesus died and it was a very sad day, but he wasn't dead for long! In three days, He woke Up!"
  • "The angel rolled the stone away and the soldiers fell because everything was shaking."
  • "There was only one person who didn't give up. It was Mary. She never gave up. But she didn't recognize Jesus. Jesus asked her 'who are you looking for?' He scared her."
  • She also asks really HARD questions:
    • "Who is God's daddy?"
    • "If God made everything, then who made God?"
    • "If Jesus died on the cross and God and Jesus are the same then did God die, too?"
*One morning Benjamin took Emma Claire to eat breakfast with he and some of his friends and about lost his breakfast with a statement Emma Claire made. She told everyone at the table that she had a boyfriend. He about lost it until she finished the statement, 'my boyfriend is Camp.' For now, I think we're okay with that! : )

*Emma Claire and Camp are usually great together but the other morning Camp was giving Emma Claire a hard time. She made the statement to him "Camp, I love you, but I don't like you today."

*A few weeks ago when we were traveling to Mississippi we stopped at a Cracker Barrell in Nashville, TN to eat breakfast. While we were there the waitress came by and asked Benjamin if 'ya needed anything'. Emma Claire quietly leaned over to me and said 'Mommy, that lady thinks Daddy's name is Janine." (If your having trouble say it real southern drawl 'ja need anything'.) : )

Easter 2011

Happy Easter!!!

It was such a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time celebrating our Risen Savior with friends and our church family!

I caught this cute picture of Emma Claire hanging out with her buddies, Anna Kate & Abby Lyon, on the curb at church. Aren't they cute in their hat and gloves!?

Emma Claire also found another one of the buddies, Lana Davis!

After church with ate a yummy lunch with a couple of our friends at CiCi's Pizza and then headed home to give the kids their spring baskets. (Thanks, RaRa, for all the loot!)

Top Right: I just loved Camp's Easter eggs and will definitely be saving them for next year!
Bottom Right: Emma Claire couldn't take her eyes off the window when Benjamin went outside to hide the eggs. She was so excited!

Camp loves wearing hats and I could just eat him up when he does! SOOOOO cute.

Top Left: Somehow an Easter Egg got up in the bird feeder!
Bottom Right: Our buddies, Shane & Alicia Shaddix came over to enjoy the beautiful day with us. It was fun to share the fun of our egg hunt with them.
Bottom Left: I love this picture of Camp because I know exactly what he is saying. He constantly calls for his 'Da' and in this picture that is exactly who he is calling.

I can't believe that spring is already here but I LOVE it! We have spent most of our days with our windows open enjoying all of this beautiful weather, minus the pollen. : ) We've been out of school for 14 days and are getting geared up to start back tomorrow! Although I'm ready to get back in our routine I sure will miss these lazy days we have been having!

For the past week Emma Claire has been singing the following song any time she gets a chance. I think the words sum up the complete meaning of Easter for us!

Christ Has Risen by Matt Maher

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
The glory of God has defeated the night
O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O church, come stand in the light
Our God is not dead, He's alive, He's alive

Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake
Come and rise up from the grave

Phillip's Baseball Senior Night

On Tuesday night before we left on Wednesday we got to go watch Phillip, Benjamin's younger brother, play in his senior night baseball game. I spent MANY nights at this field watching Benjamin play when we were in school and Emma Claire had a blast running around playing during the ballgame.
And, it was a lot of fun for us, too! Because we come from a small town where pretty much everybody knows everybody it was fun to get to just 'hang out' with everyone there.

It didn't take Emma Claire long to realize that they kept candy in the concession stand!
