My Sweet Boy at One

I Can. Not. Believe my ba*by is ONE!! Where did the time go?? It seems just like yesterday that I had a huge bowling ball on my tummy anxious for the day I would meet my sweet boy.

*Camp is a fireball of Energy. When he is awake he goes non-stop tearing up and playing with anything he can reach.

*He still LOVES his sleep. Praise the Lord. He goes to bed every night at 7:30pm and sleeps anywhere from 7:30am til 9:00am. During the day when we are home he usually takes a mid morning nap and then either one long nap in the afternoons or two small ones. On school days he usually does not get a nap at school since he is in his big boy class now so as soon as we get in the car in the afternoon he crashes. He actually reaches for his carseat and after I put him in his eyes are starting to roll back even before I get him buckled.

*Food. Camp loves to eat. His favorites are: Mac & Cheese, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, eggs, corn, cooked green beans, any kind of bread, graham crackers, waffles, pears, peaches, blueberries, bananas, and gerber yogurt. Things he doesn't care much for are: carrots, non-seasoned and uncooked green beans, peas (which were his favorite),

*Camp still walks on his knees most of the time but just recently started taking a few steps. He is so fast on his knees sometimes that I can hardly keep up. We recently went to the Dr. and I asked them about the way he got around and the dr we saw said she had never in her practice seen a child get around that way. But because he would still walk around furniture holding on and would walk holding on to our fingers they weren't concerned. They said that because he is super fast that way why would he want to walk. He can get there much faster on his knees. : ) I do have to say, he is super cute getting around and gets lots of attention because it's so unusual.

*I just knew that Camp was going to be my layed back child but boy was I wrong. He is just as strong-willed as his sister. When he doesn't get his way or when you are not getting him something fast enough he will start squealing and tensing up his body until you get to him. Poor boy has already started getting some spankings for his temper and impatience.

*He is saying a few words now: Da-Da, Ma-Ma, Hey, Bye-Bye, Uh-Oh, and has repeated Thank You.

*A few tricks he has learned: He can clap his hand together the right way and loves to dance to music. He is super fast getting up the stars. He can climb up onto Emma Claire's chair and onto the top of her table. He can certainly swing that head side to side when he know he is doing a "no-no". He can stand in place and clap w/out holding onto anything.

*Camp is certainly a Mommy's and Daddy's boy. He loves to love on his Mommy but he gets so overly excited when he hears Daddy is home. He takes off as fast as his little legs can take him to daddy.

I just love this little One Year Old so much! God has certainly blessed us with two amazing children and I can't wait to see what plans He has for them.

Reflections on the Kids By: Benjamin

I’ll be brief, but I want to offer a few reflections on the kids.

Emma Claire is becoming quite the little girl. Her dictation is improving—Wa Wa is now Ra-Ra—and her vocabulary is broadening—she told a small crowd of students last week that she is “Caucasian.” She is also beginning to grasp loving God and others. Just last night, I walked into her room for our good night ritual. I said, “Daddy loves you, sweetheart. Do you love Daddy?” She said, “Yep , and I love God, too.” Loving Jesus and loving our friends is starting to make sense to her. She asks questions about the Lord’s prayer that she now quotes from memory (even though she says “Give us this steak, our daily bread”), and loves to read about the sick man in her “Big Picture Story Bible.” She loves her little brother and tends to him like a little mommy. Waking her up each morning is the brightest way to begin the day.

Camp will be one year old tomorrow, hard to believe! I know it’s not cool to call a boy is “cute”, but he is. And tender hearted, too. It’s precious to watch his response when we scold him for throwing his cup on the floor, or getting too close to the fireplace. The spat on the hand or the leg hardly phases him, but the raise in our voice results in the fattest bottom lip you’ve ever seen and plenty of whimpers and tears along with it. And, as Ashley says, his smile will melt your heart. His mood is consistent; grumpy when he’s hungry and happily busy the rest of the time. You’ve never seen a kid walk on his knees better or faster than Camp. The kid can move (got that from me J) and the barriers in front of the stairs are a mere suggestion. He knows how to crawl over them and up the stairs before you can get out of the chair. Can’t wait to teach him how to throw the ball, run over a linebacker, hunt and fish, and, most importantly, to love Jesus.

Praise God for his grace to our family.

Camp's 1st Birthday

On Camp's 1st Birthday we celebrated with his classs at School. He will have an official birthday party when we go to MS in October.

On the morning of Camp's birthday we stopped by the store and picked him out a balloon to take to school.

It was blue show-n-tell in his classroom that day so we made 48 mini blueberry muffins to celebrate his special day.

Getting ready to go to the playground!

Some of Camp's arts and crafts that were hanging on the wall.

Camp got dinosaurs in his birthday package from Uncle Ross and Aunt Katie.

Thanks, RaRa, for my Birthday Shirt.

Still trying to get into trouble on his birthday. I have a feeling it's going to get worse.

Football Intermurals Fall 2010 @ SEBTS

Go Aches and Pains!

Camp Took 3 Steps!!!

Yea!!! It seems that we have been waiting on this day forever!

Camp has been walking around on his knees with his back straight up for weeks. He looks very funny and everyone who sees him is very impressed. Actually, I took him to the doctor this week to get his ears checked for his recent double ear infections and they said they had never in their years of practicing seen any child do that! They didn't seem worried about it all since he was managing just fine walking around furniture and holding on to things.

BUT, tonight was the BIG Night! Camp was looking out the back door to the porch and Mom, who is here visiting, yelled to me that he was standing alone. I thought that maybe he was holding on with just one hand that we couldn't see so I went over to him and called him to me and he took not one, but THREE steps! Yea for Camp!!!

I was so excited for him! He was also so proud of himself and we spent a long time celebrating. Unfortunately Daddy was out of town so we quickly called him so that he could celebrate with us. Camp was yelling "Da, Da, Da, Da" in the background the whole time I was talking to him as if to tell him what he had done.

I better get busy because it won't be long until he is up and running! : )

Random September Photos

RaRa had Camp and Emma Claire Alabama outfits made. We were doing our best to get a picture of them together with them on.

Emma Claire helped Mr. Daniel, Mrs. Erin, and Daddy cook Chocolate Gravy and Biscuit for Mommy's Birthday.

Emma Claire & Camp's 1st Day of School 2010/2011

Emma Claire was so excited about her first day in her 'BIG' 3 year old class.

She found the hook where her bag goes.

Showing me where she checks in and out each day and where she will put her sparkle sticks when she earns them.

Left: Camp and his wonderful teachers; Mrs. Nichole, Mrs. Emily, & Mrs. Lyn. Right: Emma Claire and Mrs. Kathy, her assistant teacher.

Right: Mrs. Amy, Emma Claire's lead teacher, was explaining everything they will be learning this year in circle time.

Right: Look at Camp in his big boy class. No Nursery for this boy! ; )

He even gets to do Discovery Class with Mrs. Kelly!

Left: I kept trying to sneak pictures of his first day. Right: Look at him peaking under Mrs. Emily's arm.

A successful ending to a first day of school. A Nap.
