She Said the "W" Word!

Is has begun!

It has started!

She said the word!

We were sitting in the baby's room the other night playing and Emma Claire looked at Benjamin and said........"WHY????"

It's the first time I have ever heard her say the word much less ask the question. I immediately looked over at Benjamin and said that is a good question for you to answer. I don't even remember what the question was, it wasn't significant. It was the "W" word that stuck out in my mind. I thought it was a good question for Benjamin because his family said when he was younger that was always his first response to something. He is still that way. He thinks its a great question to get to the bottom of something.

So it was on...

Emma Claire: "Why"

Benjamin: "Because that's the way it's made"

Emma Claire: "Why"

Benjamin: "Because....something" (I don't remember what he said)

On and on it went until Benjamin ended with, "You are just going to ask God that one!"

Big Girl Bed

We finally made the move to the Big Girl Bed! Emma Claire did great! We put the bed together while she was napping and then had it ready for her while she woke up. She was so excited to see it! She didn't really understand what we were talking about, "Big Girl Bed", until she saw it herself. We explained to her that she was not allowed to get out of her bed by herself because it was dangerous and that if she needed anything she needed to call mommy and daddy. Let me just say that she has done amazing. We have not had any issues with her trying to get up, it has not bothered her sleeping, and she calls us from her bed if she is ready to get up or if she needs to go potty. I think she was ready to make the move. AND, she had to be because baby brother is coming SOON and he needed somewhere to sleep. : ) I can't believe how big my baby girl is getting. She is going to be a great big sister!

Summer Swimming

This summer Emma Claire and I have spent a lot of time hanging out with friends and going to the lake or the pool. Emma Claire has always been a little bit afraid of water, but this summer at the lake she has turned a new leaf. She will say she wants to go Way Out There! She will take off up until the water is at her neck and then wants me to take her even farther. Her summer camp teacher at school, Mrs. Nicole, even showed her how she can lay on her back and float. Nicole and her daughters came out to enjoy some time swimming with us.
Yesterday, our friend, Julia, invited us over to her parents pool to go swimming to off we went. Emma Claire was crazy!!! She just kept wanting me to stand in the water and her jump to me. I would slowly begin to let her go under just a little bit at a time so she would be scared. The whole issue is her eyes. She doesn't like for the water to get in her eyes. I finally had to tell her I had to take a break. She was wearing me out jumping in and out, in and out.

I am so thankful for our friends we have gotten to go hang out with this summer and can't wait to go swim with them even more!

Vacation Summer 2009 Pics

Vacation Summer 2009

What a great vacation!!!


As we did last year we went to Port Charlotte, FL and spent a couple of days with our good friends Daniel and Erin Schafers. A couple of days before we were fly out on our trip we received a phone call from Erin saying that Daniel had been in an awful biking accident while competing in a triathlon. He was such a trooper. He had injuries all on his back and stomach and had also messed up his wrists and arms, but that didn't stop him from flying down for our vacation. What a guy! We love them!

While we were there in Florida it rained most of the time but we could have cared less. All we wanted to do was relax and relax is what we did. We spent our first night there at Erin's parents house in Port Charlotte where they treated us to a boat ride around the canal and dinner. We had a wonderful time getting to know them and Emma Claire had a blast riding on the front of the boat. She said she was looking for Alligators!

The next morning we were to catch the ferry to ride over and stay on the island where we would finish out our vacation. However, that night we had a rough time with Emma Claire coughing and running a fever so we headed to the doctors office first thing the next morning. Sad to say it was the CROUP!!!! Bless her heart the doctor said he was going to over treat her so that she could still enjoy our vacation and get better quickly. She did have an awful cough but it didn't take long for her to get back to herself. She just wanted to go find some fish and sea shells.

The island where we stayed for the remainder of our vacation was called Little Gasperilla Island and the only excess on and off was by boat. It was great!!! Once on the island you would use golf carts as your only transportation. We had such a great time hanging out with Daniel and Erin and swimming on the beach. Our days would consist of sleeping late, eating breakfast/lunch, going to the beach, coming back for a nap, taking a golf cart ride, cooking dinner, going back to the beach for sunset, and then staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning talking, eating cheesecake, and drinking coffee. Could you ask for anything any better?!?! I posted some pictures of the condos and just some random shots of the island so check them out!!
