2012 NC State Fair

The North Carolina State Fair is one of the biggest highlights of the year for our family.

The kids go for all the rides and excitement.

The adults go for all the yummy food and fun with friends.

This year was no exception.

Every year the fair is open for around 2 weeks so we normally wait and go towards the end on canned good night, but this year we decided to go early in the case Dawson decided to make his grand entrance! : ) We were so excited when the Lyon's decided that they would join us again this year. It makes it so much more fun for the adults and kids both!

Let's just begin with the food. This year between the four of us we enjoyed hot dogs, ice cream, cotton candy, red velvet funnel cake, deep fried snickers, fresh apple cider, buttered corn, kettle corn and pizza! This is a once a year event and this is the one time a year that we indulge in this kind of eating. We begin preparing ourselves weeks in advance! Your stomach has to be prepped for this type of eating. ; 0

Right: Camp LOVED the train display. I think he would have stayed there all night if we would have let him!

Emma Claire was so excited when we agreed to let her make an old rag doll with this sweet lady. She took so much time with them and was really in character which made it even more exciting for Emma Claire.

All the fried food you can eat and fun entertainment!

The Lyon's and the Quinn's! (plus Dawson : )

This was the yumminess I was looking for this year..... Red Velvet Funnel Cake w/ Creme Cheese Icing.
I don't even think I need to say anything else for you to guess how good it was!

Time for RIDES!!!

This is where I almost lost my dinner. Emma Claire and Anna Kate wanted to ride this ride but Emma Claire was about 2 inches too short. I was so relieved because who wants their kid to go that far up in the sky and then be dropped in the matter of seconds?! Well.... the sweet man working the ride gave Benjamin the go ahead that she could ride it anyway. Let's just say I was NOT for this one! I just knew it was going to terrify her because she didn't realize what was coming. Boy was I wrong.

Click Here to see her reaction for yourself!

Yes, she is our dare devil!

Right: A trip to the fair is not complete until you make a quick trip through to see all the oversized fruits/veggies and farm animals.

Left: This little stinker kept trying to pretend that he was sleeping in the stroller. I'm so glad that he is not a fan of crowds and is just as happy in the stroller. It's makes fun trips like the fair so much more enjoyable.

Right: Camp's reaction to the beginning of the fireworks show!

We found the most perfect spot close to the exit to just sit, relax, and enjoy the fireworks. It was the perfect place to just let the kids enjoy being kids!

Do you think they enjoyed the show!? This time was priceless.

We arrived at the fair around 3:00pm and got home and in the bed a little after midnight! I'd say it was a pretty successful day minus the fact that walking all that time didn't put me in labor. Come on baby Dawson we are ready to share these fun times with you!

So thankful for this precious time with family and friends!
