Traveling With A Two Week Old

When Camp was only two weeks old we decided to take him on a trip to MS. Benjamin had a work trip to Union University in Jackson, TN so we decided to tag along and go visit with family while he worked. We decided to make the trip easier for all of us and split the trip into two days of driving instead of trying to drive all the way. On the way there our plan was to stop in Gatlinburg, spend the night and then get up the next morning to eat at one of our favorite places, Pancake Pantry. The kids did amazing on the way the way there. No fussing, just smiles, sleeping and watching movies.

Once we got there we walked over to Cracker Barrel to eat dinner before we settled in for the night. Needless to say we ate more than we needed and Benjamin even ordered a dessert 'to go' for us to eat in the hotel room. We all felt stuffed and Benjamin decided he couldn't even think about going to eat at Pancake Pantry after he ate so much for dinner. I have poked fun at him ever since and will never let him live it down. I told him just because he ate to much we all had to suffer. Maybe next time.

On the second leg of the trip the kids did just as well. No fussing just lots of fun and talking about what we were going to do when we got to MS. Once we arrived in MS we had a great trip and a wonderful time visiting with family and letting them get to meet Camp for the first time. Camp did great while we were there and it never seemed to bother him at all. Of course, Emma Claire had a blast too and thoroughly enjoyed getting spoiled rotten.

On the way home from MS we decided to have the same plan as before except we would stop in Athens to eat dinner with our cousin, Chelsey, so she could also meet Camp. After that we were going to drive close to Gatlinburg to spend the night so that we could try Pancake Pantry again. Do you think we went!?!? NO. We were going to be too rushed because Benjamin had to get back for a dinner at work. However, the kids did great again and Camp only cried for the last 10 minutes of our drive. He decided he was done.

This was a new experience for us traveling so far with two kids and one of them being so small. We did have a great time and it was so good for all of us to get away together for a while. I hope it's this good next time!
