End of the Year Assessments

This week we had a chance to sit down with Camp and Emma Claire's teachers and get their end of the year assessment.  I was so encouraging to hear what they had to say about both of them.

Camp's teacher, Emily, said that Camp has been such a joy to have in their class this year. Even though he is technically not old enough to have been in the one year old class this year she confirmed to us that he was definitely ready to be moved into the 2 year old class next year. Our plan is for him to repeat the two year old class again next year so that he will be back on track for kindergarten.

She said that Camp has lots of buddies in the class and several of them call his name when it is lunch time because they want him to sit beside them. One in particular is a little girl. ; )

The only thing that they haven't picked up much on at school is his speech. He is saying several words, but of course because we are around more often we understand more of what he is saying. Emily said although he isn't talking much she doesn't consider him behind at all it's just that he is not there yet. Very encouraging to hear from this momma! : )

I could not have been more happier with Camp's teacher's this year. They have been just what he needed and loved him so much! Thank you for all you have done for my sweet boy this year. We love you, Emily, Lyn, & Nichole.

Here is a list of what words Camp is saying at home:
  • Momma
  • Da
  • 'Moan' - Come On
  • Sissy
  • Go
  • Uh-Oh
  • Bite
  • More
  • Tries to say 'Fan', 'Flower'
  • Bye
  • 'Blue' - Blue's Clues
  • Ball
  • Balloon
  • Emma Claire
  • 'Moan' Momma

Emma Claire's teacher, Amy, had just as many great things to say about her. She said that Emma Claire definitely has a strong personality and is a strong leader, and that she is seen great improvement in how she channels that gift.  She also said that she thrives on and has excitement for academics and learning new things. Amy said that Emma Claire LOVES Bible time and that she knows the stories from memory. She said they love to hear her answer all the questions they asked them about the stories.

One thing they have seen at school that we too have seen at home is her continual arguing.  She doesn't do it in a defiant way, but in a way to show you how good her idea is. In some ways it is very manipulative. Emma Claire never does anything to right out disobey but she will slyly do things in the way she wants to do them rather than the way she was told to do them.

Other than that struggle we are dealing with right now she is pure joy! In Amy's words she said that "when Emma Claire is excited about something that she is VERY excited and that when she is sad about something she is VERY sad. You can always tell the way she is feeling or how her day is going by her face." : )

I am so proud of the strides she has made this year! She is a completly different child and has learned sooooo much. I can't believe I will have a child in the 4 year old class next year! One more year til kindergarten. : ( Better start praying for me now!

So, so thankful for Mrs. Amy & Mrs. Kathy this year. I see everyday how hard you work to teach my baby!
