Virginia Brown, January 9, 2011

When we first decided we were moving to Wake Forest, NC in the summer of 2005 we contacted my aunts former landlords, Howard and Virginia Brown, to see if their rent home was available. At the time is was not available, but 10 days before we were to move he called to tell us the person moved out. Mr. Brown said that if we would give him another week he would put down new carpet and we could move in asap. What we didn't know was how special Mr. Brown and Mrs. Virginia would become to us. When we moved up they were the only people we knew and we spent lots of time sitting on their brown leather couch talking about the weather or the houses Mr. Brown had checked that day or listened to Mrs. Virginia's giggle when she told us that she had tagged along with Mr. Brown so she could go out to eat. They were just the most precious people and you could not help but love them like grandparents. They bent over backwards for us when we were living in their rent home to help us in anyway possible. Whether it be fixing something that broke or just as simple as coming over to help me get in the house when Benjamin was gone out of town, they were always there for us. Sadly, on Wednesday, December 29th, Mrs. Virginia had a heart attack and never recovered. She held on for several days, but on Sunday, January 9th, she went on to see her Heavenly Father. She was such a beautiful lady and her love for Lord showed brightly through her. I am so thankful for the time we got to spend with Mrs. Virginia and for the sweet love she shared for my children. Heaven most definitely got a great addition. We love you, Mrs. Virginia!

 Virginia W. Brown January 09, 2011

Virginia W. Brown of Wake Forest, passed away January 9, 2011 after a number of months of increasingly declining health. She enjoyed a joyful and special recent Christmas season, preparing for the holidays and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend to many.

On December 28, 2010, she was able to celebrate her sixty-fourth wedding anniversary with her husband, Howard just prior to being admitted to the hospital on December 29. Virginia and Howard shared sixty-four wonderful years of building a family, several businesses, and engaging in active and joyous involvement in their church and community.

Virginia was a long-time, faithful member of Rolesville Baptist Church where she moved her membership upon her marriage. For more than 50 years, she taught Sunday School in the pre-school department. In 2001, when she resigned from that position, she was honored by the church with very special recognition for her years of service. She enjoyed preparing her lesson plans, teaching the children, and watching them mature; and she equally enjoyed the past nine years of returning to her adult Sunday School class and spending time and fellowship with the lovely ladies of that group. Born Virginia Dare White on April 30, 1923, she was a daughter of Mary C. and Henry White.

In addition to her husband, Howard L. Brown, she is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Brown of Alexandria, Virginia; two sisters, Maidie W. Mangum and Sibylene W. Rogers of Wake Forest; a number of loving and special nieces and nephews; special extended family members, and many close and dear friends.

Known as “Gin” to her close-knit siblings, she was predeceased by other sisters, Lethea W. Lowery, Zula W. Barham, Mary Susan W. Pearce, and Etta W. Pearce, and by brothers, Kenneth, Howard, Elton, William, Luther, and George White.

The family is extremely grateful for the outstanding quality of care provided, especially during the past year, by Rex Family Practice of Wakefield, Capital Heart Associates, Rex Surgical Associates, and to Wake Med Hospital for the most recent emergency.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, January 13, 2011 at Rolesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating.
